Fellowship Awards

There are a variety of awards and contests in connection with the DOE Computational Science Graduate Fellowship. See these below:

Frederick A. Howes Scholar Awards
The Frederick A. Howes Scholar in Computational Science award was established to honor the late Frederick Anthony Howes who managed the Applied Mathematical Science Program in the U.S. Department of Energy during the 1990s. Dr. Howes was highly respected and admired for his energy, dedication and personal integrity.

Undergraduate Computational Engineering and Sciences (UCES) Award Program
Created to promote and enhance undergraduate education in computational engineering and science (CES), the Undergraduate Computational Engineering and Sciences (UCES) award program is in support of recruitment for the Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship Program and encourages further development of innovative educational resources and programs; recognizes the achievements of CES educators; and disseminates educational material and ideas to the broad scientific and engineering undergraduate community. The UCES Awards Program is funded by the Department of Energy and administered by the Krell Institute.

DOE CSGF Essay Contest
The purpose of this competition is to encourage better communication to non-expert audiences of the value of computational science and engineering to society. The DOE CSGF Essay Competition is open to ALL fellows and alumni including previous winners of this competition.
